Conex Boxes also known as Intermodal Containers, ISO Containers or Shipping Containers are standardized reusable steel containers used in shipping goods and products within a global containerized intermodal freight transport system. Conex boxes are designed to be moved from one mode of transport to another (from ship, to rail, to truck) without unloading and reloading the contents of the container.
The International Maritime Organization published ISO standards for containers allowing for more consistent loading, transporting, and unloading of goods in ports throughout the world.
Shipping containers are manufactured using marine grade Corten Steel and have double doors which open 270 degrees with treated timber flooring. They are wind and water tight.
Standard Shipping Containers
Standard shipping containers come in 20’ and 40’ lengths, 8′ width and 8’6″ height.
Hi-Cube Shipping Containers
Hi-Cube shipping containers are the same dimensions as standard shipping containers except in height. HC containers have a height of 9’6″.
